Why I'm Too Old For Drama And Negative Friends
“My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.” – Henry Ford
Over the years I've noticed how uplifting friends have contributed to my well being, success and happiness. These are friends who have motivated and believe in me. I always feel energized, joyful and confident after spending a day with them. I can easily share my dreams and goals and usually get a, "yes girl! Go for it!"
On the other hand, I've had friends who have not contributed to my life force energy. They are generally negative and constantly complain. Whenever I would share my ideas with them, I would get a feeling that they are a bit jealous of my current positive energy and enthusiasm. They would even say things that would cause self-doubt, exhaustion or depression. So after realising that I was constantly depleted after a day with them, I knew it was time to let go of the friendship.
What most of us don't understand is that your life energy is precious and must be protected. Positive people and situations improve your energy levels, intensely; but negative people put you in energetic debt as one friend said to me the other day.
It's a proven fact that keeping good company increases your overall health and success. Don't let negative friends bring you down. Apply the concept of spring-cleaning to the people and situations that do not encourage you to live your best life. Just like objects in my environment, my friends either nourish or deplete my vibrations.
So the one thing I started doing daily, was asking myself where the majority of my energy is going. I'm I putting the majority of my energy into people who give back? If not, then what was keeping me hooked in that relationship? Did I stay friends out of guilt? Why did I tolerate their negativity? It was up to me to create a group of healthy people around my life. Remember energy is contagious. The happier and more positive your friends are, the more their energy will rub off on you.
When you are open, smiling and complimenting, you never know how that energy will come back to you. Also, when you "make someone's day" with your kindness, there is a ripple effect, I've a testimony of this. Their happiness can affect how they interact with their co-workers, spouses and families. In these instances, you are creating very good karma. Spreading seeds of happiness and loving kindness in the world is attractive and beneficial to everyone, especially you!
