How To Live A Life Of No Regret ,
"One day you'll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember."
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
My father told me" Avicii - The Night
Regret is one of those emotions faced by many people, but It's particularly challenging because there's nothing you can do about the things you did, or didn't do. The one thing I used to fear the most in life, was waking up one day and realizing I did not live my life to the fullest.
I developed the mind-set that I can archive whateverI put my mind to, but accepting that to get there I have to start living a fearless life. So I evaluated my goals with the aim to see if I’m living my life to the fullest, then I made a list of all the things I never want to regret in the future. Below is a list of regrets I’ve made a decision will not be a part of my earthly life.
Not taking more risks
Fear of failure is one of the big reasons most people stick with the status quo and avoid taking chances. Funny enough, it's also the very thing that many regret most later on in life --the risks they did not take.
I never want to find myself regretting a time when I didn't ask that hot guy out on a date, start a business, break up with that boring boyfriend or make a career jump. Whatever the experience, I've set mental alerts that serve to remind me of my resolution every time I feel fear dictating my decisions. Sometimes the hardest decisions are the ones we need most.
Not allowing myself to be happier
You are the biggest hindrance to your happiness. By choosing to remain attached to limiting beliefs, you’ll find that you start developing a negative mind-set that will not allow you to find happiness.
If your success is based upon certain outcome, remember you're giving someone, or something else, that power that enables you to be happy. I had to learn to let go of the mind-set that I don't deserve to be happy or that my happiness is based upon something. Which I found not to be true. Letting go of this limiting beliefs has given me the freedom to be happy no matter my current circumstances are.
Not being courage enough to express my true self
I used to live my life in constant comparison of the people around me, afraid of being true to myself or expressing my real desires.
Before I became an entrepreneur, I spent years in jobs I didn’t find fulfilment, taking the safest route while ignoring my passion. Now I wake-up each morning ready to grow the empire I've set out to create and happier than ever. As Steve Jobs said, "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life."
Not having lots of fun
Most of people are so obsessed with hustling, but let me remind you that you’ll regret it one day if you don't make time to have fun now. I’ve found that having fun is not only good for my soul, but it's also good for my business. It's proven to reduce stress and negativity and allows your brain to reset and recover. I make time for the things I enjoy most like traveling, exploring different types of food, dancing, and laughing.
Not traveling more
Just recently someone asked me if I haven't travelled enough, my jaw nearly dropped as I realise I’ve not even covered half of Africa. I hear people always say, "maybe I’ll travel next year," as the conversation about travel comes up. The world we live in is so big and the chance to explore it must never be put on the maybe next year shelf.
Your worldview changes the more you travel. For me making the decision to travel while I’m still young helped me see the world with a new eye, which has blessed my life in a whole new way. Imagine the stories I’ll be sharing with my children 😀
There is no blueprint for your life, and that's how it should be. At the end of the day, you are the one who decides how you will spend your time and what kind of life you will create. It’s your choice, not eve God has control over this decision. Only you can choose to take necessary actions that will lead to you living your life to the fullest, right now, not tomorrow, but now.
